2nd Chance

The 2nd Chance Hub is developed with the specific needs of ex-offender in mind. Their most prevalent needs once released from custody are employment, education, management of health issues, and support from family and the community.

Particpants of the 2nd chance hub have access to any class offered through the Academic Hub, its essential to improve their literacy levels in order to have more opportunities for employment and career options.

Particpants also have access to the services of our health hub. Especially our support group that focuses on mental health, self-empowerment, self-confidence, and self-esteem. Participation in the support group isnt required but highly encouraged.

Lastly, particpants are linked with community organizations and resources that offer vocational training programs and apprenticeships. For those who are interested in working for themselves, Tyson's Storehouse Education Center offers a 12-week entrepreneurial program. It's offered twice a year to help particpants identify a business idea, learn how to develop those ideas, and present their ideas through a well written business plan . See our calendar to learn when the next program starts.

don’t forget about us (dfau)

Our Don’t Forget About Us campaign  is a reminder that social injustices are found in many facets of the African American experience, including those with a criminal background. These injustices range from discriminatory policing practices and arrests to the disproportionate level of incarcerations for men and women of color. Oftentimes creating unnecessary barriers for people caught up in the criminal justice system. Which is why our DFAU campaign is so important to us.

Through our Don’t Forget About campaign, we are able to offer 25  men and women Welcome Home packages to remove some of the barriers they experience upon being released.
