Registration:

Tyson's Storehouse Education Center offers Adult Literacy classes to anyone wanting to improve their basic literacy skills, prepare to take the General Equivalency Exam (GED), or develop their job readiness and soft skills.

Adult Basic Education and Adult Secondary Education: provides three different levels for Math and English classes for three different reading levels:

PRE-GED: 8th grade or below reading level.

GED Ready: 9th-10th grade reading level.

GED College and Career Ready: 11th-12th grade reading level.

Soft Skill, Workforce, and Job Readiness classes: prepare students to enter the workforce, technical schools or community colleges with skills needed to overcome barriers to employment. Conflict management, communication, time management, and college pathways are classes student take to help transition into a post-secondary program.

Highlights of the program

  1. Students take literacy classes in conjunction with workforce or soft skill class.

  2. Each course is developed based on Complete College Georgia goals and metrics, Common Core State Standards (CCSS) for College and Career Readiness, and One Step Forward Adult Education for Work program.

  3. Voucher scholarships are available to students who qualify (contact Tyson’s Storehouse for more information).

  4. Classes are delivered in a traditional classroom, hybrid, or blended settings.

  5. ALL CLASSES ARE FREE!

The Three Levels are:

Adult Basic Education Class: This class is developed for students testing on or below the 8th grade.

GED Ready: (Free Course) This class is for students testing on a 9th-10th grade reading level.

GED College and Career Ready: This class is for students testing on a 11th-12th grade reading level.
